Self-Service BI means:
1. The user prototype is a basis of any data process (Prototype!)
2. Data warehouse is spreadsheet-user-oriented (DW4User!)
3. Spreadsheet is a main client of DW (No dashoboards and predefined
reports - it doesn't mean no predefined reports. They can be - but only
as automatization of working reports made by user) (Spreadsheet-based
analysis!)
4. The user can make so many reports he can and want to (and the mistakes, too) (Learn by mistakes and trials)
5. User has a tool - the environment to make reports he want. In the normal spreadsheet! (Work simply!)
6. The "system" (SSBI) is managed by the user, not by certified database "experts" (user management)
7. The system is never-ending-prototype, because it's beeing improved
day by day. No "implemetation contracts" for BI (constant improvement)
8. All the data are pulled(!) from the DW into a spreadsheet. Not are
pushed(!) by DW into the spreadsheet files (Pull not push!)
9. The spreadsheet functions are the basis of reports. You have the
functions with business args and you make reports you want. After it's
OK you start thinking about optimalization and automatization.
(spreadsheet functions!)
10. The computer experts help(!) the user make a report - if it's
impossible at a time they make contraband data mart for this purpose
(Contraband data mart - basis of the DW)
